Winn-Dixie Adds News America Marketing’s Floortalk Program to Five-Year Renewal Agreement
Renewal Includes all Core Programs and SmartSource Price Pop Guaranteed
New York, NY (August 26, 2004) – News America Marketing, a division of News Corporation (NYSE: NWSA), today announced the addition of Winn-Dixie Stores, Inc. (NYSE: WIN), one of the largest food and drug retailers in North America, to its SmartSource Floortalk® network. The agreement between Winn-Dixie, and News America Marketing, which delivers a wide array of in-store advertising and promotional programs under the SmartSource® brand name, will bring more than 1,000 stores into the Floortalk network. This is an increase of nearly 12%, bringing the number of stores in the network to nearly 9,000. Under terms of the renewal, News America Marketing will be the exclusive third-party provider of all advertising and promotional programs at Winn-Dixie through its SmartSource portfolio of in-store marketing programs. The renewal also includes Price Pop® Guaranteed, News America’s fast-growing price communication vehicle. Winn-Dixie was one of the first major U.S. retailers to participate in the Price Pop Guaranteed pricing program when it was introduced three years ago.

Winn-Dixie is one of the nation’s largest food retailers, with more than 1,070 stores throughout the southeastern United States. News America’s All Commodities Volume (ACV) dominance in this category will grow substantially throughout the region. In the Atlanta market, Floortalk now commands 44% ACV; in Jacksonville, Orlando and New Orleans/Baton Rouge, it controls more than 30%; and in Tampa/St. Petersburg coverage is expected to double.
The new four-year program will be in effect as of January 2006.
