News America Marketing Announces Exclusive Partnership with Family Dollar

 

Multi-Year Deal Unites Two Industry Leaders; Includes SmartSource
In-Store Programs     
 

 

New York, NY (September 15, 2007) – News America Marketing, a division of News Corporation (NYSE: NWS), today announced that it has signed a multi-year agreement with Family Dollar. The agreement cements a partnership between Family Dollar, a $7 billion, 6400 store chain and News America Marketing, which delivers a wide array of in-store marketing programs under the SmartSource® brand name. Under the terms of the deal, News America Marketing will be the exclusive third-party provider of marketing programs at Family Dollar and will offer its portfolio of SmartSource in-store programs. This signing adds 6400 stores to News America Marketing’s network, further solidifying its leadership position in more than 34,000 food, drug, and mass retailers.

The alliance with Family Dollar, one of the most prominent discount retailers in North America, significantly increases News America Marketing’s presence in this important trade class for consumer packaged goods as Family Dollar accounted for $4 billion in total CPG sales.

The SmartSource portfolio will be available in January of 2008 across all Family Dollar outlets and will include at-shelf coupon dispensers, shelf messaging, and floor advertising on an exclusive basis.   

 

Founded in 1959, Family Dollar opened in Charlotte, NC and is today among the largest dollar store chains in North America. Family Dollar operates approximately 6,400 stores in 44 states with annual sales $7 billion.
